Welcome to Whitehills Neighborhood Association of East Lansing’s website. Our
neighborhood was developed by Al White who had a dream and it consists of over
400 unique and majestic homes. The paved streets are wide, winding and lined
with luscious trees which provide shade and foliage seasonally. There is great
pride in our community and it is evident everywhere in the manicured landscapes
and well-maintained homes.
Our 13 subdivisions are comfortably nestled in the northeast side of our city of
East Lansing, Michigan which is one hour east of Grand Rapids, 75 minutes from
Detroit, and 3.5 hours from Chicago. We are a bike’s ride from “our downtown ”
which is the nucleus of our city and convenient to all of the wonderful things
East Lansing has to offer: five minutes to Michigan State University, the public
library, post office, many unique places to eat with a variety of ethnic and
classic American food, museums, Broadway shows, art galleries, and high tech
incubators for entrepreneurs. Private and public schools are within walking
distance to the neighborhood as is our wonderful grocery store.
It is common to see young families out for a stroll or bike ride and retired
couples walking hand in hand along our peaceful but busy sidewalks. We have our
own Al White Park at the northern perimeter which is the trailhead for bike and
jogging pathways to the north, and Patriarch Park on our southern border with
its multiple ball fields, picnic shelters, woodlands, and magnificent play
structures.
Nestled on the north end of the subdivision is Whitehills Elementary School. This is home of Kindergarteners through 6th graders. New playground equipment was installed a
few years ago.
We have a very active community where people walk, ride, bike and roller blade.
Whitehills is diverse , well kept, peaceful and safe. It is the place we love,
protect and call home.
